Education, Sustainability and the post-2015 agenda

Tue 3rd February 2015 - News

On 1st January 2016 the UN Millennium Development Goals will be replaced by Sustainable Development Goals ‘ which aim to bring about transformative economic, environmental and social changes that will have a positive and meaningful impact on people’s lives’ (Ban Ki-moon UN 2015). There is already recognition that Sustainable Development begins with education http://unesdoc.unesco.org/images/0023/002305/230508e.pdf, but what sort of education?

Starting in 2016, a new series of reports will monitor the state of education in the new framework of the anticipated Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The first report in the series, the 2016 Report, will be ‘Education, sustainability and the post-2015 development agenda’.

UNESCO is consulting on what should be included in this report. See LfS Scotland’s response to the consultation  here  and post your own responses by clicking here. Submit your response by February 10th 2015.
