On Tuesday 31st March, the European network of Regional Centres of Expertise (RCEs) in Education for Sustainable Development welcomed a global audience to the fourth of its ‘Exploring the potential of…’ webinar series.

Led by RCE Oldenburger-Münsterland, Germany; RCE Vienna, Austria; and RCE Scotland (‘Learning for Sustainability Scotland’), this event focused on ‘Exploring the potential of…using Digital Tools for Education for Sustainable Development’.

Following a welcome, which included an introduction to the Global RCE Network and its work to embed ESD at local levels, we enjoyed ‘Digitainability’ – an introduction to the concept of using digital tools in ESD.

We were then delighted to hear more about two inspirational examples of using Digital Tools for Education for Sustainable Development:

  • Adam Greene, RCE Vienna, shared more about the Pioneer’s Pathfinder: a free-to-use AI-powered platform to inspire projects and empower change-makers
  • Detlev Lindau-Bank, RCE Oldenburger-Münsterland, then told us about the Self-SDG App; which encourages action on the SDGs by young people.

We then went into a Q&A discussion, chaired by Detlev, where questions were posed to the presenters.

Betsy King from RCE Scotland then shared some final reflections and concluded the event.

We look forward to inviting you to future events of this kind; which will be advertised in the Events section of this website and future editions of our Bulletin.

Please do contact us if there are any particular aspects of Education for Sustainable Development/Learning for Sustainability that you would like the European RCE Network to focus on in future webinars and we will include your ideas in our planning discussions.
