This FREE facilitated, online course is for educators, setting leaders, and policymakers in Scotland from any formal or informal educational sector or setting.

If you want to collaborate across a community of practice to gain a better understanding of the values, skills and approaches at the heart of education for flourishing and just futures – and how to weave it across your own practice or policy-making – then this course is for you.

Aligned to the National Model of Professional Learning, the course is delivered in partnership by the University of Edinburgh, Learning for Sustainability Scotland, and British Council

What does the course include?

The course includes Scotland-specific modules offering:

  • Live webinars to deepen understanding of the role of Learning for Sustainability in Scotland: including the Curriculum for Excellence and proposed Curriculum Improvement Cycle priorities
  • A dedicated space for collaboration and reflections on pedagogy
  • The opportunity to develop your own classroom project or activity with support from a facilitator
  • Signposting to resources and other professional learning opportunities.

In addition, the course includes five core modules which will support you to:

  • Understand the interconnected nature of sustainability issues through a holistic exploration of current global challenges
  • Explore and share teaching and learning approaches to weaving and embedding sustainability-related skills, knowledge and values across your everyday professional practice.
  • Consider how we can all take positive personal or professional action towards sustainable futures
