Welcoming our new Development Manager
It’s a time of change here at Learning for Sustainability Scotland.
Betsy King, our Development Manager since our inception in 2013, recently retired from her post as Development Manager. Her wisdom, skills and sense of humour will not be fully lost as she will still continue to play a part in the wider work of Learning for Sustainability Scotland, but we cannot thank her enough for the leading role she has played in our organisation since we were founded.
We are, however, delighted to introduce Cecilia Mañosa Nyblon; our new Development Manager, who joined us on 14th April.
Welcome, Cecilia – and over to you…
“We are all made of stories!
My name is Cecilia Mañosa Nyblon and my story is one of connections, collaborations, and boundary spanning across disciplines, cultures, and generations. This ethos and practice are at the heart of Learning for Sustainability Scotland and am excited to join the team as the new Development Manager.

I am inspired by the pioneering work in learning for sustainability in Scotland and look forward to learning and working in partnership across all sectors in Scotland and beyond to harness the transformative potential of learning for sustainability to co-create a greener, healthier, and more equitable future.
Stories matter. They shape who we are and who we want to be. Stories change the world.
‘YOU scatter seeds across the shingle roof of your home. You’ve painted the hempcrete walls with lime, built a veranda fitted with solar panels – enough energy for you to share. Nothing’s been wasted, freighted, or ferried. Even the foundations are recycled. The water system uses harvested rain. Your garden helps to cool the city – overflowing with green.’ Extract from ‘On this Day’ – We Are the Possible – The Land of Fire: 12 Stories for 12 Days of COP29 (2024)
A little bit about me
I am an experienced professional in education and public engagement with an academic background in education (PGCE, QTS) and anthropology (MA, BA). Deeply committed to learning for sustainability, I bring an extensive cross-sectoral and proven track record of education across all levels, advocacy, and delivering impact. Over the past 25 years, I have worked in international interdisciplinary teams across diverse sectors; including higher education, museums, research institutions, and educational organisations such as the University of Exeter (UoE), Smithsonian Institution National Museum of the American Indian (USA), and Smithsonian Tropical Research Institution (Panama).
Five years ago, I brought together a team from the University of Exeter, the Met Office and international experts including marine scientists, poets, soundscape artists, musicians, playwrights and children’s authors who recognise the power of the arts, to bridge the gap between science and society. In 2021, our team launched We Are the Possible. This international award-winning programme brings together artists, scientists, educators and health professionals to connect hearts and minds. Together, we develop creative content and performances that are presented to policymakers and the public at annual UN climate summits and other public events to inspire positive actions to care for and restore our planet.
I’m excited to be joining the Learning for Sustainability Scotland family and look forward to our exciting collaborations together.”
