Issues like climate change\, gender equality and how to live sustainably affect – and connect – us all: wherever we are in the world. \nAligned with Scotland’s education priorities and the UN Sustainable Development Goals\, this fully online professional learning will support you to think about\, plan for\, and implement\, Learning for Sustainability in your own practice and in your teaching context. You will make connections at individual\, institutional and global levels\, inspiring you and your students to develop the confidence\, skills\, knowledge\, values and attitudes we all need to thrive and create positive change in our increasingly interconnected world. \nEngagement in this fully funded course will: \n\nSupport you to create an enabling environment for Learning for Sustainability in your teaching and setting\, and significantly enhance young people’s educational experience\nInform your own professional development and GTCS professional update\n\nEnhance your participation in the Connecting Classrooms through Global Learning programme\, supporting whole setting and cluster approaches to Learning for Sustainability\nGive access to an international network of like-minded teachers\n\nThis professional learning has been created by the University of Edinburgh and Learning for Sustainability Scotland\, for the British Council/ Department for International Development Connecting Classrooms programme. The programme is accredited by GTCS and your engagement could lead to GTCS Professional Recognition. \nWho can participate?\nThis course is fully funded for all 3-18 years teachers in state funded schools\, colleges and early learning and childcare centres in Scotland. You will be supported by skilled facilitators with a background in Learning for Sustainability and online learning and do not need any advanced technical expertise to take part. \nWhat will be involved?\nThe programme involves participation in online discussions and activities in five course modules. Join us as we explore creative and transformative approaches to learning; helping you to bring Learning for Sustainability and the Sustainable Development Goals to life in your own educational settings. \nBuilding on a highly successful series of annual events exploring the interconnected themes of Learning for Sustainability\, this online event offers a timely and collaborative opportunity for educational practitioners from all sectors to come together. It will provide an opportunity for you to engage in interactive workshops facilitated by expert speakers. The sessions on offer will focus on a variety of Learning for Sustainability themes and methodologies; including storytelling\, outdoor learning\, climate action\, rights-based learning\, STEM\, global perspectives and learner voice. \nThis online event is open to practitioners across Scotland and across the early years\, primary\, secondary\, additional support needs\, youth and community sectors. In November 2020 the world’s 190+ nations must commit to deep cuts in greenhouse gas emissions at the UN’s COP26 conference in Glasgow.  With awareness of the climate and nature crisis rising in Scotland and the arrival of this critical conference in November\, our 2019 AGM will ask: what connects the climate and nature crisis\, democracy and you? \nThis event will explore the role of the individual and participative democracy in influencing societal change\, and showcase how Learning for Sustainability approaches can inspire positive interactions with all three. \nWe’ll be hosting inspirational speakers and examples and inspiring you to explore and deepen your skills and approaches for engagement. Our AGM will take place at the start of the event in which our Steering Group for 2020 -2022 will be elected. \nThe event is also a fantastic networking opportunity\, allowing you to meet other highly motivated individuals from across the education\, charity and community sectors.

Scottish Government was one of the first to sign up to the Goals and they now underpin the National Outcomes. \n“By 2030\, ensure that all learners acquire the knowledge and skills needed to promote sustainable development.”  \nUN 2015 \nHow can the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) support us in our work? How can we contribute to the delivery of the SDGs in Scotland and beyond? \nIn the context of the upcoming National Review of progress on the SDGs this workshop will: \n\noffer a critical introduction to the emergence of the SDGs\,\ncapture case studies of relevant work underway and\nexplore how Learning for Sustainability can help us appreciate the interconnectedness of the SDGs more widely.
