SUMMARY:Have your say on... Scotland's draft Environment Strategy
DESCRIPTION:The Scottish Government’s draft Environment Strategy sets out a framework for delivering Scotland’s role in tackling the global crises of nature loss\, climate change and pollution. Through it\, Scotland has the opportunity to create new opportunities for jobs\, businesses and investment\, improve people’s health and wellbeing\, tackle poverty\, and promote social justice. \n\n\n\nThe draft of this strategy is currently under consultation; and Learning for Sustainability Scotland and EAUC Scotland are working together to draft a response. \n\n\n\n\nBut we want to hear from YOU. \n\n\n\nEducation and learning have a huge role to play in achieving this vision. Help us showcase and celebrate what education across Scotland is already doing – and identify and highlight what else it could do with the right support. \n \n \n \n \n\n\n\nAnyone working or learning in an early years\, school\, college\, university. or community setting is welcome. Whether you’re from a teaching\, research or operational background – or a learner yourself – join us and share your perspective and insights. We’ll also share pointers and a template to help you easily draft your own response. \n\n\n\nLet’s all have our say on a strategy for a sustainable Scotland. \n\n\n\nWe look forward to welcoming you at 16:00 on Tuesday 09 September – and to hearing your thoughts. We’ll be using Microsoft Teams and we’ll send you the joining link once you’ve signed up. \n\n\n\nClick here to reserve your FREE place at this event \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nWarmest wishes\, \n\n\n\nLearning for Sustainability Scotland and EAUC Scotland

SUMMARY:Educating for a Healthy Planet and People: Strengthening Partnerships on the Road to COP30
DESCRIPTION:Join us and colleagues from the Planetary Health Alliance as we explore the role of Planetary Health education in preparing societies for the urgent transitions demanded by the climate crisis; aligning with COP30’s agenda\, the broader UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)\, and building upon the Planetary Health Educational Framework\, developed by the Planetary Health Alliance. \n\n\n \n \n \n \n \n\n\nAs humanity faces converging crises—from climate change and biodiversity loss to pandemics and food insecurity—it is increasingly clear that the health of people is inseparable from the health of the planet. Planetary Health offers an integrated\, transdisciplinary framework that addresses these interconnected challenges by placing human well-being within the context of Earth’s natural systems. While COP30 (to be held in Belém\, Brazil in 2025) represents a critical political moment to advance climate action globally\, education remains a powerful yet under-utilised lever for long-term transformation. Embedding Planetary Health into education systems—from primary schools to professional training—can empower citizens\, leaders\, and communities with the knowledge\, values\, and skills necessary to co-create a sustainable and equitable future. \n\n\n\nClick here for full details and to reserve your FREE place. Who is the event for?\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n● Educators\, researchers\, and students● Policymakers in all related areas● Youth and student organizations● Civil society and environmental NGOs● Indigenous leaders and traditional knowledge holders● International organizations (e.g.\, WHO\, UNESCO\, UNEP) \n\n\n\nWhat are the expected outcomes?\n\n\n\n● A shared understanding of the importance of Planetary Health education for climate action.● A set of recommendations to feed into the official COP30 processes and legacy initiatives.● Strengthened networks among educators\, institutions\, and civil society committed to transforming education for a healthy planet.● A public-facing communiqué or declaration on Planetary Health Education for COP30. \n\n\n\nClick here for full details and to reserve your FREE place. Supporting partners and organisations:\n\n\n\nPlanetary Health AllianceUniversity of São PauloPlanetary Health Brazil NetworkScotland’s United Nations University recognised Regional Centre of Expertise on Education for Sustainable Development – Learning for Sustainability Scotland

SUMMARY:'Live at COP30': explore more with our FREE legacy course
DESCRIPTION:Our FREE ‘Live at the COP’ MOOC (Massive Open Online Course) is now available as a legacy course following COP30 in Belém\, Brazil. \n\n\n\nSince its first iteration in 2021 for COP26\, over 20\,000 people from over 170 countries have taken part in this collaborative\, facilitated learning opportunity. \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nAbout the course\n\n\n\nThis course offers you an opportunity to examine what the COP process is\, why it’s considered to be important\, and reflect on how you can add your voice to the call for collective action for a sustainable future. \n\n\n \n \n \n \n \n\n\nThroughout the course\, we shared ‘live’ insights into the issues being discussed at COP30\, as well as responses to the conference themes from children and young people\, community groups and ministerial bodies\, both nationally and internationally. Using these ‘starting points’\, we invite you to reflect on what you have heard\, watched and read\, and think about what these conversations and issues mean to you. \n\n\n\nCourse content from ‘Live at COP30’ will remain open\, free and accessible as a legacy resource for school\, community and individual use beyond the Conference. \n\n\n\nClick here to find out more.

SUMMARY:Have your say on...Learning for Sustainability in the GTC Scotland Accreditation Process and Requirements review consultation
DESCRIPTION:About this Consultation\n\n\n\nGTC Scotland has launched a consultation on proposed changes to its Accreditation Policy. \n\n\n\nAs the independent regulator for teachers in Scotland\, it also has responsibility for accrediting programmes of initial teacher education (ITE) and setting the minimum entry requirements for these programmes. SUMMARY:Rethinking Scotland's National Outcomes Framework
DESCRIPTION:(Hybrid event – online or in-person at the University of Strathclyde\, Glasgow) \n\n\n\nJoin Scotland’s International Development Alliance\, the University of Strathclyde\, the SDG Network Scotland and other partners including Learning for Sustainability Scotland\, at a hybrid discussion on Monday 30 March\, 09:30–12:30 to share your views on reforming and renewing Scotland’s National Performance Framework. \n\n\n\nWhat is this event about?\n\n\n \n \n \n \n\n\nScotland’s National Performance Framework is being redesigned. We have a chance to influence what comes next – and make sure the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) are at the heart of how Scotland measures success. \n\n\n\nThe Deputy First Minister has set out proposals for six high-level National Outcomes\, cross-cutting perspectives (or “lenses”)\, and a stronger focus on “ways of working” and implementation. \n\n\n\nThe NPF could be a vital tool for policy coherence\, helping Scotland deliver on the SDGs and align public and private action. Does the current proposal get us there? What is missing\, and what would make implementation real rather than rhetorical? \n\n\n\nWe will use the Government’s own prompts as a starting point\, including how your work connects to the proposed outcomes\, how cross-cutting perspectives should be reflected\, and what stronger accountability\, transparency and culture change could look like in practice. \n\n\n\nIf you care about how Scotland sets direction\, measures what matters\, and makes long-term decisions\, please come along – either in-person or online – and add your voice. \n\n\n\nClick here to find out more and book your place.
