The group aims to investigate and champion current provision and practice regarding the inclusion of LfS when teaching young people about food-related themes and the use of ‘food’ as a learning topic when exploring the broader themes of LfS.
It will also provide recommendations for its integration into ‘mainstream’ educational practice. An initial meeting has been held to discuss objectives and key focus areas and a draft questionnaire to group members to identify priority focus areas has been created.
The Food Pedagogy Task Group is in the process of developing a work plan to answer four questions:
1. How can the current interest in teaching about food be linked to the sustainability agenda?
2. What are we trying to achieve by embedding teaching about food in Learning for Sustainability?
3. What does good Learning for Sustainability about food look like and how do we measure success?
4. What can LfS Scotland members do to advance this agenda?
