Values & Education Conference
What does an education system based on “values” and “character” look like? How do we enable good values-based learning? What resources can help us do this?
We will address these questions and others over two days of workshops and talks, inviting anyone who is interested in, or already applying, a values-based approach to education.
Day 1 is practice focused, inviting people to share their experiences working on values across the education sector, including primary, secondary and tertiary education; outdoor education and youth work. We will discuss what has worked, and what hasn’t, and identify where we can share resources and offer support.
Day 2 is a policy focused event to develop a consensus position on values in school education, what a values approach brings to education and what resources/sources of support already exist in this area (both North and South of the border).
This event is hosted by the Public Interest Research Centre (PIRC), Character Scotland, Learning for Sustainability Scotland and Lifeworlds Learning. You can apply to either day, or the full conference, and there is a small fee to help us cover the costs of food and hosting.
Date: November 20th–21st, 10–4 pm
Cost: £25 for one day, £40 for both
Venue: Moray House School of Education, University of Edinburgh, Charteris Land (Room 5.02), St John Street, Edinburgh, EH8 8AQ
