Kate works in freelance in Sustainable Development Education and has lived and worked in Scotland since 1990. After a time in teaching, she moved into the education & environment sector and worked for Grounds for Learning, Scottish Wildlife Trust, Eco-Schools Scotland and Sustrans as Deputy Director (Behaviour Change). Kate was the Manager of the very successful Eco-Schools Scotland programme from April 2002 to August 2012 and was awarded an OBE in the Queen’s Birthday Honours list for services to environmental education and sustainable development in 2013.
Kate is married and lives with her husband and border collies, Midge and Moss, in Edinburgh. In her spare time, Kate enjoys travelling, cooking, gardening, music and doing anything dangerous in the outdoors – off-piste skiing, scuba diving, walking, climbing, cycling and bungy jumping.
